Why travel with us?

Moretti Wine & Food Travel is owned and operated by two Italian wine experts. We plan customized, small-group journeys and private travel. Our trips our distinctive, planned by us around unique destinations we have personally visited. We do not outsource our tours by having an agency package up an itinerary. Our small groups format allows us to give a lot of personal attention and help to tour participants before and during a trip. We have a vested and personal interest in ensuring our customers feel comfortable, are satisfied, and have a stellar trip. If the number of returning customers is proof, then we are succeeding in that.

Meet Jeni and Antonio Moretti

Jeni Moretti brings her natural warmth, humor, and down-to-earth approach along with her in-depth knowledge of wine, food, and Italy to every trip. She has been leading both consumer and professional wine tours to Italy and planning clients' independent Italy trips since 2007 when she created Passionate Palate Tours, which eventually morphed into Moretti Wine & Food Travel.

 

Her 30-year wine industry career has included winemaking, winery management, sales and marketing, with a focus primarily on Italian wineries. During that time, she has extensively explored the wine regions of Italy and California, spoken professionally on various aspects of the wine business, taught Italian wine education classes, and conducted more wine tastings than she can remember.

Moretti Wine & Food Travel allows her to share her love for travel along with her expertise in food and wine. As a young girl, Jeni dreamt of venturing into the world, drawing future travel inspiration from the pages of National Geographic. Her mother’s gourmet cooking introduced her to international cuisines—adventures of the palate that contributed to Jeni’s curiosity about world flavors.  

Jeni has realized that dream, traveling extensively, including Asia, the Americas, and Europe ... but can never get enough of Italy, where, “Each of Italy’s 20 regions is like a country unto itself, with its own food and wine traditions, landscape, and language accents and dialects,” she says.
 

Her passion is to share her knowledge with others making Moretti Wine & Food journeys educational, meaningful, and a vacation to remember.

Antonio, the other half of Moretti Wine Travel, hails from Le Marche, Italy and lends their tours an insider’s expertise of his homeland. Like Jeni, he has spent over 30 years in the wine business primarily representing Italian wineries. He also managed some very popular Italian restaurants and as an Italian Wine Specialist at two large wine distributors, he educated sales reps, restaurateurs, and retailers about Italian wines. He was even a chef in a very busy Italian restaurant in San Francisco!

 

Antonio created a very successful wine tasting room in Santa Barbara County, California, where he honed his expertise at educating consumers about wine. He also launched the Moretti Wines label, which started with one wine in 2009 and grew to a whole line of Santa Barbara County wines as well as a high-quality Italian Prosecco. In 2023, Jeni and Antonio sold both of their wine businesses to focus solely on leading Italian wine and food tours.

 

Antonio serves as Jeni’s sounding board, accompanies her on scouting trips, and helps her fine-tune itineraries. Their combined connections with Italian wineries and winery owners open up opportunities to offer unforgettable experiences for clients.

 

The Morettis have a pied-à-terre in Antonio’s hometown of Macerata, Italy, allowing them to spend a large part of every year in Italy to continue to explore new places, wines, festivals and food producers while maintaining their treasured personal connections.
